I would like to try and make my own carrying case and am not having much luck finding good information online. I would like to make a case like the ones you can buy for makeup, video game systems, or poker chips. What type of plastic do I use, what do I use for the corners, do I rivet the pieces together?

Check with an art supply store they carry all types of compartmented cases. It you need to have custom inserts made you can do that will soft foam and a good sharp hobby knife. I custom made inserts for my boxes so the tools would stay put.
