::::ALL TEXAS HOLDEM JUNKIES:::::::suited AK or pocket 2's?

Posted by JudasHero at: 2008-02-14 21:47:41
which is better percentage wise against each other? Which would you rather have all in(equal amount of chips) preflop for a WSOP title(given the right circumstance) the AK against the 2's or 2's against AK

If you're talking an all in situation, I'd rather have the deuces (although I can't see myself going all in with them). However, if you're talking post-flop play, I think the ducks are much harder to play.

I would play those deuces all day long.The A,K, would be backup. A pair has strength.

Odds Smoods, I'm playing those ducks everytime. I've seen big slick get busted out to many times to think they can stand against a pair.

it doesnt matter whether you have 50% chance of winning or not pocket twos is the best hand so i would take 22 every time

will go with AK even it has the same odds as pair of 2s

some say it's a coin flip but if both are unsuited i would rather have pocket 2's definitely if i am heads up there are only 48 cards left in the deck only 6 cards can save him 6/48 = .125 = 1/8 but i guess there's a straight possibility too so maybe a little higher than 1/8 still rather have the twos play the odds

I would not like to be all in with ducks but if the circumsatnces were there that I was. I would have to go with the edge and that is AKs with neither of the deuces in the suit of AK. The edge is so slight, but it would make for really good hollywood ending with an Ace on the River. This is a tough question. A post like this would be greatly appreciated in our forum at pokergob.com

It's almost a coin flip if you can get it down to heads up. If there's more than 2 people in the pot, those deuces are the underdog as it will be much easier for one of the other two players to pair up than if there was only one opponent to try to get his 6 outs.

I like pocket AK but others may think otherwise

AK

As-Ks Win: 49.37% Tie: 0.67% 2s-2d Win: 49.96% Tie: 0.67% As-Ks Win: 49.77% Tie: 0.63% 2d-2c Win: 49.60% Tie: 0.63% So, if one of your 2s is the suit that the AK is, you are a VERY slight favorite, if not, you're a VERY slight underdog. It's pretty darn even.

ANY pocket pair > AK AIPF. I'd take the 22.

A pocket pair is a 51%-49% over 2 suited over cards pre-flop, so it's basically a coin flip. After the flop it's closer to 70-30, and after the turn it's around 85-15. That being said, I don't like playing any very small pocket pairs, 8 or below, because the likelihood of them holding up in any given hand is slim. With pocket 2s, any pair beats you.

If someone pushed in their chips to me at the final table heads up, I'd be more comfortable looking down at AK suited. You're never going to get a perfect read on your opponent in this situation, and I'm a lot more likely to be up against a hand I can crack with AK. The pair may look nice, but any over-pair and I'm dead meat. If I have AK, the only hands I'm dominated against are AA or KK, and I totally crush a hand like AQ, AJ, or A10, all perfectly legitimate all-in hands at the end of a tournament. Pretty much any non-pair I'm up against with 22 is a 50/50 shot, so you can never be totally confident you'll win. So before the cards are turned over, I like my 50/50 against 11 possible pocket pairs, domination of 3 different hands, and dominated by 2 hands much better than being 50/50 against any non-pair, or dominated against 12 different pocket pairs. Of course, if there is no pre-flop all in, I'll take AK every time. I can still get away from it if I don't hit anything, and you can rarely call any raise with 22 if you don't hit trips.

Poker Stove can give you the percentages for all the AK and 22 combinations averaged together. Looks like 22 wins. equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 47.986% 47.67% 00.31% 78367080 513624.00 { AKs, AKo } Hand 1: 52.014% 51.70% 00.31% 84986856 513624.00 { 22 }
