boot in safe mode and then download AVG, Combofixer.exe, and Spybot s &d. Then scan in safe mode. Then clean your disk by using the disk clean feature, you internet temp files can be harmful.

The problem you have is pretty common with symantec and mcaffe security suites. You need to completely remove them. First click start, then click search, then click all files and folders. In the box that asks for a file name type in SYMANTEC. When the files come up delete them all manually. Then do another searh on files named NORTON. Again delete them all manually. Chances are if you don't completely remove them all from your system it may continue to cause the conflict. After you remove them all you should be able to download any other security utility you need to protect your computer, provided of course Norton didn't protect you from viruses to begin with which is more likely the case. Good luck.

Purchase a good anti virus/spyware.
