What can I do with my new free time I have?

Posted by Erin at: 2008-01-06 11:02:20
I've been playing online poker for years now and I just want to stop and do something else. What can I do with my time? What is a beneficial thing to do that is good for my health and low cost? I'm open to any suggestion.

Be a volunteer! Do you like dogs and cats? Check out your local shelter to see if they need dog walkers and cat cuddlers. Check out the volunteer section at Craigslist.com for your local area to find other opportunities.

Excercise is always good. If you already do that then taking up a sport or other hobby. If you have lots and lots fo free time then pick a topic to learn about and pursue it. Advancing the mind and body is the best you can do for yourself.

Have you thought about chainmaille? It uses metal rings and pliers, so it's a nice 'guy' thing to do. I find it relaxing (kind of knitting with metal) and my hands are a lot stronger than they used to be. The Make Something website http://www.MakeSsomething.net/ has some good kits to get you started. Have fun with all your new free time!

The healthiest thing to do would be take on a physical hobby. You can do many activities on your own or with buddies. Like go walking, jogging, skating, biking, hiking, etc. Or you can stay high-tech and shoot photos and videos outdoors, or go geocaching.
